iTravel NZ: In the Silence of Ambury

via Daily Prompt: Silent

In the stillness of Ambury lies a serene herd. The Ambury Regional Park is located in the South of Auckland, New Zealand close to the Manukau Harbour. Activities include bird watching, camping, farm viewing, lamb feeding, cow milking, mountain biking, picnics, and sightseeing. If you are keen to any of these family-friendly activities, head to South of Auckland! The ideal time to visit is in spring (July-September).

HOW TO GET THERE

Catch Bus number 309 from Symonds street at Bus Stop 7164 to Kiwi Esplanade Bus Stop. Then walk to the park at 43 Ambury Road, Mangere Bridge. On your way back, take the same bus number to Auckland City Center.

WHY I WENT THERE?

  • As a Sunday school kid who was fond of listening to Bible stories, I was curious of how sheep truly behave as described. Hence, I had always dreamed of chasing, holding, and feeding the sheep in real life. I grew up in the Philippines where sheep are not generally raised. It took XX years to see this childhood dream come true but hey, nothing is impossible! 🙂 It’s never too late to feel childhood once again.
  • Meat and dairy are the top two export products in New Zealand.
  • Sometimes when you need to rejuvenate from any emotional imbalance (i.e. home sickness, relationship or friendship issues), opt for a walk in the park.
  • To escape from the noise of the busy city, I dare to shake hand with nature.
